Alcohol Addiction : The way forward to recovery
STOP PRESS: Just wanted to say I am now 18 years sober - Hoorayy!!! As a former addict to alcohol, I have found that since giving up my addiction and becoming sober, my life has opened up to many beautiful possibilities.
For example when I was six years sober I met my wonderful boyfriend and I continue to have a great relationship with him over 11 years later :-) My point for mentioning alcohol addiction and the way forward to recovery is that, I truly believe that without God protecting me, I do not think I would have been able to be successful in my recovery.
My life now is blessed and I feel so grateful for everything, that I remind myself to keep things simple and to pray my serenity prayer to keep me grounded on a daily basis.
The Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity, to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference Amen.
If you or someone you know, are experiencing problems with alcohol the following organisations may be able to help:
AA -An organisation that helps people through problems relating to alcohol in a confidential manner.
Double Impact - a registered charity and not for profit organisation, providing a service to promote recovery and community integration, for people who have experienced problematic drug and alcohol use.
Below is a blog I wrote last November, but I feel it is relevant so I have published it below enjoy:

[Don't be afraid to move on in life.]
As a catholic christian I am often envious of those people who can seem to stay in one place for many years. I am not that kind of person and I am happy with that.
I have never really been able to fit in with various groups that meet up repeatedly for events and various agendas, I just find the whole thing too tiring.
As someone who also suffers from depression, I have found that the Holy Spirit is leading me towards a new beginning through my website wwww.thegospelbutterfly.com
This has given me new hope and inspiration to reach people in a different way. Don't be afraid to be different, because none of us are the same.
